Held on April 1, 2025, AIRFoundry’s Frontiers in Science: Engineering RNA and AI event invited undergraduates from four-year and community college institutions to attend a half-day event to learn about emerging RNA technology, engineering nanoparticles for vaccines and other uses, and how Artificial Intelligence can help accelerate discovery.
This event was geared toward undergraduates in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Engineering programs interested in learning about research related to RNA technology (vaccines, therapeutics, and more) and multidisciplinary research.
During this FREE event, students had the opportunity to:
- Learn from leading experts about foundational and emerging research in mRNA and delivery vehicles (Lipid Nanoparticles)
- Learn how AI can help us with research and discovery
- Learn about the AIRFoundry Research Center and BioFoundry
- Visit real labs at the University of Pennsylvania
- Attend a poster session of current graduate student researchers
This event ran in conjunction with RNA Day @ Penn, hosted by the Penn Institute for RNA Innovation.
Summer Internships
The AIRFoundry has partnered with the Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter (LRSM) to host up to four interns.
AIRFoundry Fellows will work in AIRFoundry faculty labs at Penn, be fully integrated in the LRSM program, and have access to exclusive workshops to learn more about AI, RNA, and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) research. Interested applicants should mention “AIRFoundry” in the comments section of their application to be considered.
Ciencia Sin Límites @ University of Puerto Rico
The AIRFoundry will participate in Ciencia Sin Límites with the Women in Science Symposium in Puerto Rico on April 25, 2025. Middle and high school students from across Puerto Rico will attend to learn about microfluidics and mRNA/LNP formulations.
